Icewind Dale NPCs

For those who seek a similar kind of inter-party experience from Baldur's Gate while playing Icewind Dale.

These are a few of my NPC mods for Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition, who will interject, start dialogue, and potentially even have personal encounters throughout the story.

For banters between mod companions, seek out the Icewind Dale Crossmod Banter Pack at Gibberlings Three.

Biography

“When asked about his past, GULDRUK gives a hearty laugh, warning you beforehand that his many years of experience would make for a long-winded tale, though he is fairly forthcoming. Having never known his birth parents, the half-orc was taken as a babe by a sympathetic barbarian elder of the Tribe of the Bear. Though always treated with a degree of guardedness by his human tribesmen, Guldruk was raised knowing the ideals of an honorable warrior of the Reghedmen. Guldruk’s adolescent years were frequently spent in conflict both with rival tribes and the civilized folk of the Ten Towns, hardening him to the rigors of battle. His fate was changed, however, when he was rescued as a young warrior by a swordsman of eastern origin and, out of admiration, pleaded to the easterner for tutelage. With the blessing of his tribe, Guldruk departed with his teacher to wander the earth, honing his swordsmanship through combating evil in different lands throughout the Realms until returning to the Ten Towns to embark upon one more journey before retirement. The veteran half-orc undoubtedly has many stories to tell.”

Biography

“When asked about her past, KARIHI is unusually reticient, a far cry from her usual fiery and commanding demeanor. All you can discern from the few details you can gather is that she hails from a region in the far eastern corner of Faerûn, and judging from her eloquence and intelligence, is likely of noble descent. Fittingly for her fire genasi heritage, she is hot-tempered and quick to take offense, as well as self-assured and arrogant, but her skills as a pyromancer and scholar are undeniably impressive. Only time could possibly tell what personal secrets she has to hide.”

Biography

“When asked about her past, MINERVA giggles as if you’ve said something incredibly amusing, before asking why you’d ask about the past when the present holds such excitement. After some nudging, however, she confesses that she was born of the Glimmershine clan, who hail from the distant island nation known as Lantan. Known for their numerable advancements in the field of science and technology, Lantanese artificers rarely stray from their island and their colonies throughout Faerun, making Minerva’s presence in the North an unusual circumstance. When pressed on this, Minerva simply states that the thrill of wanderlust and adventure drove her to leave the comforts of her home, and her greatest desire is to travel the entirety of Faerun… and perhaps beyond. For what purpose besides her own amusement, however, you cannot say.”

Biography

“When asked about his past, ATHANASIOS LEADENFOOT barely manages to speak a few coherent sentences among his rough, slurred ramblings. Hailing from Targos, the second-largest of the Ten Towns, the drunken, slightly aged halfling has served the church of Tempus for the majority of his years, which according to him is the highest life one could ask for: eagerly awaiting the next fight, revelling in the prospect of it being the last, and celebrating each victory, for one lives to fight another day… though in his case, perhaps the latter is taken to an extreme. Despite your doubts, however, his drunkenness appears to be more than matched by his capability in battle… assuming he swings his weapon in the right direction.”

Nirik of Clan Bannerstone

Biography

“When asked about his past, NIRIK politely informs you that he was born of the Bannerstone clan of the Silver Marches. As the youngest member of his family, Nirik had few responsibilities save for training to protect the clan, yet his small stature—even by dwarven standards—hampered his potential as a warrior. Through an unusual set of circumstances, he crossed paths with a druid from the High Forest who saw in him the potential to become a servant of Nature and tutored him in the druidic arts. At the guidance of his first mentor, Nirik parted ways with his clan at a very young age to travel northwards to the Frozenfar, where he became apprenticed to archdruid Arundel in Kuldahar. Though a meek and quiet soul, Nirik shows a clear determination to become a capable druid in order to return home and become a proud clansman in his own way.”
